Heterorhabditidae and Steinernematidae are classified as entomopathogenic nematodes, which are specific at controlling insects. They are soil organisms which live with bacteria in a symbiotic-mutualistic relationship.They are active hunters to depth, which makes them superior to many other nematode species. As they are the most active, they are less likely to survive in the soil for a long period if a host is not found.
